Gynecomastia is enlarged breast tissue in men. It is very common: it may appear in adolescence and never go away, or develop in adulthood due to hormonal changes, weight changes, some medications or anabolic steroids.
There are two types. When the volume is mostly fat (pseudogynecomastia), liposuction corrects it. When there is gland, you feel firm tissue behind the areola that does not go away with diet or exercise, and it must be removed. Most cases are mixed, and I combine both techniques in the same surgery.
I remove fat with liposuction through incisions of a few millimeters, and the gland through a small incision at the lower edge of the areola, where the scar blends in. I use fourth-generation ultrasound and intraoperative radiofrequency to help the skin retract for a flat, defined chest.

If it is fat, diet and exercise help, although sometimes not enough. If it is gland, it does not go away with exercise: it must be removed surgically.
Will the scar show?
The incision for gland removal sits at the lower edge of the areola, where the skin color changes, and blends in well. Liposuction incisions are a few millimeters.
Can it come back?
