A breast lift, or mastopexy, corrects sagging breasts (breast ptosis): it repositions the breast tissue, raises the areola and nipple and removes excess skin. It is common after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or simply with age.
There are several degrees of sagging, and therefore several ways to correct it. Mild cases need only a scar around the areola; moderate cases add a vertical scar below it; advanced cases need an anchor-shaped (inverted T) scar. At your consultation I examine your breasts and explain which technique you need and where the scars would be.
A lift can be done with or without implants. If you also want more volume or fuller cleavage, I combine it with breast augmentation in the same surgery. We decide together based on the result you want.
This surgery requires experience: I see many patients who want to correct a lift done elsewhere. After pregnancy, it is often combined with a tummy tuck in the Mommy Makeover package.

Based on the degree of sagging
The technique depends on how much the breasts have dropped and on their size.
Periareolar
For mild sagging: a single scar around the areola.
Vertical
For moderate sagging: a scar around the areola plus a vertical one below it.
Anchor (inverted T)
For advanced sagging: excess skin below the areola is removed and the nipple is raised; the scar also follows the fold under the breast.
With implants
Any technique can be combined with implants to restore volume and fill the upper breast.
