Upper, lower and full blepharoplasty in Mexico City
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, removes excess skin and repositions fat in the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both. It is one of the surgeries that changes your expression the most with the least intervention: your eyes stop looking tired, sad or puffy.
Over the years the skin of the upper eyelid stretches and falls over the lashes; sometimes it even blocks part of your vision. In the lower eyelid, the fat that cushions the eye moves forward and forms under-eye bags, which do not go away with sleep or creams.
Everything starts with a consultation. The doctor examines the skin, fat and muscle of your eyelids, your brow position and the shape of your eye, and defines with you what you need. Sometimes what looks like a droopy eyelid is actually a low brow or ptosis (weakness of the muscle that lifts the eyelid), which are treated differently.
In the upper eyelid the incision sits in the natural crease, where it hides when the eye is open. In the lower eyelid it can be placed just below the lashes or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival blepharoplasty), with no visible scar, when only the bags need treatment.

During your consultation the doctor defines which eyelids to treat and with which technique.
Upper
For droopy eyelids: removes excess skin and, if needed, fat from the upper eyelid. It opens up your eyes and, when the skin blocks part of your vision, improves your visual field. The scar sits in the eyelid crease.
Lower
For under-eye bags: removes or repositions lower eyelid fat and tightens excess skin if present. When there are only bags, it is done from inside the eyelid (transconjunctival), with no visible scar.

How long does blepharoplasty last?
The surgery takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on whether one or both eyelids are treated, and you go home the same day. Results are long-lasting: the removed skin does not grow back, although natural aging continues.
Can under-eye bags be removed?
Yes. Lower blepharoplasty removes or repositions the fat that forms the bags. When there are only bags and no excess skin, it is done from inside the eyelid (transconjunctival), with no visible scar.
Will there be scars?
In the upper eyelid the scar sits in the natural crease and hides when your eye is open. In the lower eyelid it sits just below the lashes, or there is no visible scar if done from inside the eyelid.
Does it hurt?
It is done under local anesthesia with sedation, so you feel no pain during surgery. Afterward, discomfort is usually mild and managed with common pain relievers.

Do droopy eyelids affect vision?
