Mentoplasty improves the shape and projection of the chin. It is for people with a small or receding chin, which makes the nose look bigger, the neck less defined and the profile unbalanced. It also corrects asymmetry.
An underdeveloped chin is sometimes related to bite or nasal breathing problems, so at your consultation I assess your face as a whole and, if needed, refer you to the right specialist.
There are three ways to augment the chin: a silicone implant, for a permanent result; your own fat (fat transfer); or hyaluronic acid, without surgery and with a temporary effect. The implant is placed through a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth.
To define the neck, chin surgery is combined with double chin liposuction and, if the neck muscles form bands, with their tightening. Together with rhinoplasty it makes up the Profileplasty package, to balance the whole profile in one surgery.
